Now, let’s get outside and explore who we are in relationship to nature.

I believe we begin to see ourselves authentically when we experience how we are connected to other living things. Let’s explore…

    • Take a slow walk in nature and pick up an object that catches your attention (a leaf, rock, feather, etc.).

    • Reflect: What qualities does this object have? How does it relate to your own personality, life journey, or values?

    • Write or sketch your thoughts in a journal. And maybe take a photo with your phone to create a collage to reflect upon later.

    • Stand in the sunlight and observe your shadow.

    • Move around and notice how your shadow changes.

    • Reflect: What does your shadow represent metaphorically? What parts of yourself do you embrace, and what parts do you hide?

    • Spend time with the four elements:

      • Earth: Sit on the ground, touch the soil, and think about your foundation. What grounds you?

      • Water: Observe a river, lake, or rain. What flows easily in your life, and what feels blocked?

      • Fire: Watch a candle flame or the sun. What passions and desires burn within you?

      • Air: Feel the wind. What thoughts and beliefs shape your identity?

    • Journal about which element you feel most connected to and why.

    • Grounding is an essential practice for being human. Take your shoes and socks off and go stand in the grass for 2-3 minutes. I promise, you will feel more Connected.

    • Sit near a tree and sketch your own "Tree of Me."

    • Roots: Where do you come from (values, influences, past experiences)?

    • Trunk: What defines your core identity?

    • Branches: What are your passions, dreams, and aspirations?

    • Leaves or Fruit: What do you give to the world?

    • Reflect on what your tree reveals about your sense of self.

    • Find a quiet spot outside, close your eyes, and take deep breaths.

    • Let the wind, sounds, and sensations guide your thoughts.

    • Freewrite for 10-15 minutes, starting with "I am..." and let your subconscious speak. Do NOT edit yourself. Write everything that comes to mind, no matter what it is.

    • Read it back and highlight words or phrases that feel meaningful.

breathe…there you are.
